Der modulare Gigabit-Ethernet-Switch EDS-728 bietet ein vielseitiges modulares Design für verschiedene Kombinationen aus Glasfaser- und Kupfermodulen zur Schaffung einer breiten Palette von Verbindungsoptionen, die sich ideal für alle Automatisierungsnetzwerke eignen. Das modulare Design ermöglicht die Installation von bis zu vier Gigabit-Ports und 24 schnellen Ethernet-Ports. Der EDS-728 wurde speziell für redundante Gigabit-Netzwerk-Backbones entwickelt und verwendet eine modulare Konfiguration zur Bereitstellung hoher Flexibilität für die Netzwerkerweiterung. Hohe Netzwerkleistung, Sicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit werden durch die erweiterten Managementfunktionen des EDS-728 sichergestellt. Hierzu zählen QoS, IGMP Snooping/GMRP, VLAN, LACP, SNMPv1/v2c/v3, RMON, IEEE 802.1X, HTTPS und SSH. Der EDS-728 bietet außerdem eine industrielle Konstruktion, einen Konsolen-Port für automatisches Konfigurations-Backup und eine geneigte LED-Fehlerbehebungsanzeige, die horizontal und vertikal gut ablesbar ist.
